Following are some messages from people and families who've adopted cats or kittens through our rescue:

I can't say enough good things about the Waiuku Colony Cats Rescue. I adopted my own sweet cat through them and helped my parents adopt two of their own. Each experience was so smooth and positive. Ally and the whole team are incredibly kind, responsive, and clearly care deeply about every cat that comes through their doors. They do incredible work feeding and caring for local cat colonies, rescuing and rehoming countless kittens, and supporting foster carers and new kitten parents along the way. The rescue is run entirely on donations and love, and the wellbeing of the cats is always their top priority. So grateful for everything they do!

We had been looking for a kitten to join our family for a while, but as we already have an energetic fox terrier the challenge of finding the right cat had proved too hard. After spotting a Facebook post with tabby kitten Duncan sitting calmly alongside a large dog, I began a conversation with the wonderful Waiuku Colony Cat Rescue. They listened to our background story and home environment and provided us with a very good personality brief of little Duncan. Of course we had to meet him and then there was no going back! His name is now Monty although we have kept Duncan as his middle name. We slowly introduced him to Sparky the foxy, who was obsessed with Monty from day one. That was back in February, fast forward to now and they are firm friends and enthusiastic wrestling partners. Throughout this whole process the Waiuku Cat Colony have kept in touch with helpful advice, even dropping off some probiotic gut powder when Monty had an upset tummy. We are so grateful for the help and support they have provided and we love having Monty as part of our crazy, happy family.

I recently adopted two adorable kittens from WaiukuColonyCatsRescue. Their names are Floyd and Charlie. Floyd was my first little companion, but I soon realized he needed a playmate, so Charlie joined our family! Both are still playful kittens, and it's a joy watching them grow and bond together.

At first, I was a bit hesitant about adopting a kitten, but I couldn't be happier with my decision. A huge thank you to Ally and all the wonderful foster families for their care and for making the adoption process so easy and welcoming.

In February 2023 I went on holiday overseas and left my friends in charge of my 4 cats and dog. Just after I left the big storms hit and my friends moved into my house to make sure all was well with the animal family. In the middle of those storms my friends sent me a photo of four kittens sitting on my back path with the question “Do we feed these too?” On my return I discovered the four kittens and their mother had moved into my empty dog kennel. The kittens were becoming wild. I messaged Ally asking first to get help trapping them and then to rehome them. Poor Ally was swamped with kittens but she came to my rescue. One kitten stayed with me. She took three and having discovered Mum was a neighbours cat Ally arranged for them to have her spayed. It was a happy outcome for all concerned thanks to having a local person dedicated to giving Waiuku cats a chance

After adopting two rescue kittens myself, a third wandered into my life unexpectedly. It was at that time I reached out for some help finding her owner, to which I was blessed enough to be helped by the Waiuku Colony Cats Rescue Inc.

The rescue plays an essential role in our community, helping helpless cats get back on their feet, and getting a second chance in life with finding a loving home. The effort the team goes to is extraordinary, day or night it doesn't stop for them helping the wellbeing of our poor fur babies that don't know any better. I truly admire the efforts of the team at Waiuku Colony Cats Rescue and recommend adopting a cat/kitten from a rescue that knows what they are doing and making a drastic contribution to our community. They are dedicated to helping cats find a home and getting that chance of a happy life they deserve.

Marlene Green of Waiuku Colony Cats Rescue (WCCR) answered my desperate plea for help. At my place of work, we had a serious problem with cat breeding, sick cats, and skinny roaming male cats. With Marlene's help and the dedication of WCCR, we trapped, hand-caught, and tricked everything from adult females to weak kittens to stroppy males to gentle souls. Many adult cats were desexed, ear-clipped, and released back to their old haunts where I continue to feed and look out for them. Many, many kittens were eventually desexed once of an acceptable weight and went to loving homes while a couple went off to become barn cats. All of the TNR'd (Trap-Neuter-Return) cats are thriving and are healthy and most regularly turn up for feeds. Thank you Waiuku Colony Cats Rescue and a special thank you to Marlene.

Marlene, Ally, and everyone else at Waiuku Colony Cat Rescue really are wonderful people.

We had a huge problem with many stray cats on and around our property. The strays were increasing in number and stressing our own cats. Plus, they were causing smells and severely affecting the birds in our area. Waiuku Colony Cat Rescue stepped in and helped us to capture a total of 21 stray cats. Many, if not all, have already found new homes where they will be well looked after, giving them a life infinitely better than what they would have had as strays. The strays and our own cats are now happy, birds have returned, smells have gone, and everyone is better off.

Thank you, Waiuku Colony Cats Rescue.

Several weeks ago we discovered a stray Mother cat & kitten living in our barn. We started leaving some food out in the hopes of being able to catch both cats to be able to get them desexed etc, but had no idea how we were going to do that. It was at this time that I was looking at Facebook on the Waiuku grapevine page & saw the details for Waiuku Colony cats Rescue. I reached out & Ally responded and said that she could help with cages etc. We then went to Ally’s place & she not only provided the cages, but also lots of fantastic advice on where to place the cages & how to use them.

Amazingly we ended up catching 5 cats & kittens of varying ages. Ally helped arrange for all of them to have the necessary vet treatments (including de-sexing/worming/injections etc) and then caring for them for several days after, until they were ready to come back to our barn. Ally was amazing throughout the whole process & it made it way easier than I was expecting it to be!

Thanks Ally for all your help! You are an absolute star!
